DENVER (AP) - A jury has convicted a man of shooting and wounding two suburban Denver police officers.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/KVYvOn ) 56-year-old Gordon Moench (MENCH) was convicted Wednesday of 20 counts, the most serious of which were attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault with a deadly weapon. He is scheduled to be sentenced June 23.

Moench, who told 911 dispatchers on July 5, 2014, that he was armed with three guns and ready to hurt people, fired from the back of his truck when officers arrived at his home.

One of the officers was shot through the windshield of his squad car, and a second was shot as she approached the home on foot. A third officer returned fire and wounded Moench.

Investigators say Moench told them later he was trying to commit “suicide by cop.”
