WYTHEVILLE, Va. (AP) - Police are identifying a man shot by officers after they say he confronted them with a gun during a break-in check at a southwestern Virginia home.
Virginia State Police identified the man Thursday as 60-year-old Danny Lee Osborn of Wytheville and said charges are pending against him.
The shooting happened early Wednesday after police say a woman returned home, heard someone inside and called 911. Police say two officers found the back door open and saw Osborn, who is white, pointing a handgun at them. Police say the officers shot him several times. State police say Osborn is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a Tennessee hospital.
State Police spokeswoman Corrine Geller says both officers are white. Wytheville police say the officers are on routine paid administrative leave.
