PITTSBURG, Calif. (AP) - Police in Northern California say a pregnant mother of four was killed and a man was injured after they were shot while traveling on a highway and crashed their vehicle.

The East Bay Times reports (https://bit.ly/21YTAjv) 25-year-old Shanique Marie died at a hospital. The man is expected to survive.

Pittsburg police Capt. Ron Raman says Marie was driving when shots were fired from another car, hitting them both.

Police believe the gunfire came from another vehicle on Highway 4 and that the two victims were targeted.

The fatal freeway shooting was the second one in the area in less than a month.

The California Highway Patrol says authorities have investigated at least 19 shootings on Bay Area freeways since the start of 2015.
