BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The University of Vermont Medical Center is set to begin construction of a new building that will include 128 rooms for patients.

The hospital received approval from state regulators last year for the $175 million project, but it had to meet a number of conditions before construction could begin.

The Green Mountain Care Board determined this month that those conditions had been met.

Construction will take place above the existing Emergency Department parking lot.

The building will have four patient floors, each containing 32 single-occupancy rooms, although there will not be any increase in the number of the medical center’s inpatient beds.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2019.
