BELLE VERNON, Pa. (AP) - Authorities have identified the body of a West Virginia boat engineer found by two youths who had been fishing in Pennsylvania.

State police say the boys found the body of Jace Edward Sayre around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Monongahela (muh-nahn-guh-HAYL’-uh) River, about 20 miles south of Pittsburgh in Belle Vernon.

Police say the 59-year-old Chester, West Virginia man had been working aboard a vessel. Co-workers reported Sayre missing around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. Police say it is believed Sayre fell into the river.

Family members told authorities Sayre, who had worked on boats for four decades, couldn’t swim.

An autopsy and toxicology tests will be performed to determine Sayre’s cause of death.

State police aren’t considering his death suspicious.
