HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - William Carey University will honor Mississippi first lady Deborah Bryant and poultry industry executive Joe Frank Sanderson III during its commencement.

Gov. Phil Bryant will address graduates of the Baptist university receiving master’s, educational specialist and doctorate degrees Friday. Deborah Bryant will receive an honorary doctorate for her work promoting literacy and her work after a 2014 tornado that struck Louisville. Sanderson, the chairman and CEO of Laurel-based Sanderson Farms, will be honored for his charitable work.

The school will hold three additional commencement ceremonies Saturday for undergraduate students in Hattiesburg, with additional speakers.
