HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. (AP) - An 83-year-old man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after two women were found shot to death at a home in Harpers Ferry.

Media report the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Charles Clark, who lived at the residence, was being held without bond in the Eastern West Virginia Regional Jail after the shootings Friday.

The women killed were identified as 79-year-old Shirley Clark and her daughter, 60-year-old Elizabeth Ann Mansfield.

The release said deputies responded to the home shortly before 1 p.m. after a caller told an emergency dispatcher that a man was trying to shoot the caller and his wife.

Deputies found the women near the rear porch.

The release said Charles Clark was found inside the home and arrested.
