NORTH CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a black bear has been seen roaming a northeast Ohio county and are asking area residents to be on the lookout for it.

Police said Friday that they believed the bear had made its way to the Arrowhead golf course in North Canton. It was first spotted in a yard in Jackson Township on Thursday afternoon, prompting wildlife officers from the state Department of Natural Resources to go to the scene.

The bear went into a wooded area and authorities hoped it would go into a more rural area. But they say it headed through neighborhoods in Jackson Township and then entered North Canton.

Wildlife officials say the bear isn’t believed to be dangerous. Authorities are asking residents to leave the animal alone if they spot it.
