LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a man whose body was found in the trunk of an abandoned car southwest of Las Vegas was a 38-year-old ex-convict sought after missing his sentencing on a new felony drug conviction.
The Clark County coroner said Friday that Kristopher Paul Alufaituli (ah-loo-fah-TOO’-lee) died of a head injury before his corpse was found Wednesday in a vehicle in Southern Highlands.
His death was a ruled a homicide.
Court records show that Alufaituli served about nine years in Nevada state prison on a 2006 conspiracy, robbery and weapon conviction.
He was paroled in October 2014, but returned to prison for a violation in July 2015.
He was released into police custody in Las Vegas in January, and freed on $3,000 bail after pleading guilty in February to felony drug possession.
An arrest warrant was issued after Alufaituli missed his court sentencing date last month.
