SWOYERSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - A 7-year-old Pennsylvania boy tells police his mother told him and his 5-year-old sister to “die for something special” before she allegedly tried to kill herself and them by piping vehicle exhaust into her car.
Luzerne County Detective Deborah Ann Parker recounted the boy’s statement while testifying Thursday against 32-year-old Melissa Ann Scholl.
The (Wilkes-Barre) Citizens’ Voice says (https://bit.ly/1TexeqB ) says a judge ordered her to stand trial on two counts of criminal homicide.
But her attorney, Lawrence Kansky, has argued prosecutors only proved that Scholl meant to kill herself, and not her children when the Wilkes-Barre woman drove to a parking lot and ran a hose from her exhaust pipe into her car in December
A man spotted the hose, pulled it from the car and called police.
