HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania prosecutor says a convicted child molester fatally shot himself the day he was to be sentenced.

Dauphin County Chief Deputy District Attorney Sean McCormack tells pennlive.com (https://bit.ly/1TSCa4B ) that 32-year-old Kevin Marshall, of Gratz, killed himself Wednesday morning. Authorities announced the man’s death on Thursday.

Marshal had pleaded guilty in February and was facing three to seven years in prison.

A judge issued a bench warrant when Marshall didn’t show up in court, and police say a passer-by found the body near Marshall’s home.

Authorities say Marshall groomed a 14-year-old girl to have sex with him by providing her with drugs and alcohol.

The girl and her family were in court waiting for the sentencing, and McCormack says Marshall’s suicide “deprives the victim of her day in court.”
