ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - Three Rock Hill firefighters are credited with pulling a man in a wheelchair from a burning building.

Rock Hill Fire Department Deputy Chief Mark Simmons tells local media that the fire began at about 10 p.m. Wednesday in North Rock Hill. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the two-story house.

A man who uses a wheelchair was trapped on the second floor. Firefighters said they could hear him yelling when they arrived.

Firefighters maneuvered a ladder around a power line. After getting it positioned, Capt. Eddie Maxie and firefighter Don Roddey went up to the window and pulled the man out. After getting him over the frame, firefighter Chad Doster carried him down to the ground.

The man was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where his condition was unknown Thursday.

No other injuries were reported.
