LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - A former Virginia sheriff is charged with embezzlement and aiding in the illegal video recording of another person.

Virginia State Police say 54-year-old David Brooks of Shipman also was indicted on charges of unlawful dissemination of images of another and malfeasance. Brooks was Nelson County sheriff from 2008 to 2015.

Fifty-eight-year-old Becky Adcock, a former sheriff’s lieutenant, also was charged with illegal video recording and making a false report to a law enforcement officer.

State police say Brooks and Adcock turned themselves in Thursday. It was unclear whether they have retained attorneys.

The News & Advance reports (https://bit.ly/23Nnre3 ) that Brooks is accused of unlawfully creating an image of another former Nelson County deputy who was nude or partially nude in a hotel or motel room.
