BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Slidell man has been cited after authorities say he stole from crab traps in Plaquemines Parish.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited 26-year-old Broward Barwick on Wednesday for removing contents of crab traps that he did not own, failing to mark crab traps and theft of crab traps.

Agents watched Barwick run the line of traps near Pointe Fienne and empty the contents onto his vessel.

The penalty for removing contents of crab traps, using crab traps without required markings and theft of crab traps carries up to a $950 fine and 120 days in jail for each offense.

Agents also returned five boxes of crabs to the water and seized traps that will be returned to their owners.
