MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A Morgantown man has been sentenced to nine months of home confinement after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a boating accident on Cheat Lake in which 12 people were injured.

WBOY-TV (https://bit.ly/1OrNUXv) reports that Magistrate Sandy Holepit handed down the sentence on Friday to 21-year-old Brandon Solomon, who pleaded guilty to three counts off boating under the influence with injury.

The open bow boat owned and operated by Solomon ran into an embankment and trees on Memorial Day last year.

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources said in an accident report that the operator fell from behind the wheel and lost control of the boat. Alcohol, drugs and excessive speed were listed as contributing factors.
