NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - A 63-year-old New Hampshire man told the court he snapped when he killed his wife of 44 years last year and that he still loves her before he was sentenced for the crime.

WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/223ldru ) Joseph Lawrence was sentenced to serve 22 years in prison Thursday for the April 2015 fatal shooting of his wife, Darlene, at the couple’s Merrimack home.

Lawrence pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder charges stemming from the death.

Prosecutors say Lawrence shot his wife in the neck after telling her she looked nice in her suit on the morning of April 30, 2015.

Lawrence said he lost control when he learned that his wife was having an affair, but he’s now haunted by his actions and what they did to his family.
