FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) - The military support group USO South Carolina is opening a new site to assist military recruits at the Army’s Fort Jackson.

The site is opening Friday at 10 a.m. at the Military Entrance Processing Station, where the Army’s largest training installation welcomes around 9,000 recruits annually.

The United Service Organizations are nonprofit groups that work to support members of the military and their families.

The new site will offer entertainment such as televisions and video games, as well as snacks and support services, while recruits go through the often-lengthy process of going through the final steps of entering military life.

Other USO sites in the area support military trainees at the McCrady Training Center and military travelers at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
