BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - Julian Assibey, a former assistant women’s basketball coach at the University Colorado, has been named an assistant women’s coach at Montana State.

Head coach Tricia Binford says Assibey will serve as MSU’s recruiting coordinator and oversee point guard development. Binford says Assibey’s ties and knowledge of the Northwest and extending to the Midwest will increase MSU’s recruiting base.

Assibey was Colorado’s video coordinator during the 2014-15 season before being promoted to assistant coach. He also has been an assistant at Merrimack College in Andover, Massachusetts, at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, and at his alma mater, William Penn in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

He has bachelor of science degrees in sports administration and strength and conditioning and a master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration.

He will begin his duties at Montana State on June. 1.
