CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for the parents or guardians of a baby boy and his toddler sister after the two were left abandoned at separate police stations.

A department statement said both children were left unattended on Thursday. According to a police report, an officer heard an infant crying in a car seat outside a CMPD office on West Boulevard at around 6:45 p.m.

The report said the girl was found at a bus stop outside CMPD police headquarters around 9:30 p.m.

The boy is believed to be around 4 months old, while police say the girl is approximately 2 years old. The children are black and have been identified.

Both children were transported to Carolinas Medical Center as a precaution. An evaluation found them to be in good health.
