DOVER, Del. (AP) - A preliminary hearing has been set for a former volunteer fire company treasurer accused of stealing more than $190,000.

A hearing is scheduled May 20 for 36-year-old Justin K. Oakley of Dagsboro.

Oakley surrendered Tuesday after state police received a report from the Delaware auditor’s office regarding the Millville Fire Company’s finances.

The report found that Oakley had conducted scores of personal transactions using fire department funds while serving as treasurer for more than three years.

The information came to light after Oakley admitted to Millville fire officials in May 2015 that he had used the company’s money for personal transactions.

Oakley, who has two previous convictions for drunken driving, is charged with theft over $100,000 and multiple counts of falsifying business records.

He is free on $12,500 secured bond.
