SEARCY, Ark. (AP) - A Searcy-based hospital system has become the first health care organization in Arkansas to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

Unity Health will have access to online resources from the Mayo Clinic and the ability to submit electronic requests to Mayo specialists. Unity Health joins about three dozen health systems that have partnered up with the Mayo Clinic.

Officials say the agreement will allow patients to get more information on their medical situations without having to travel far from home.

Unity Health has hospitals in Searcy and Newport and operates more than 15 clinics, including primary care, oncology, cardiology, behavioral health and orthopedic care.
