AUBURN, Maine (AP) - Prosecutors have agreed not to use trial statements made to two of three state investigators by a mechanic who worked at a Maine farm at the time of a fatal hayride crash.
The Oct. 11, 2014, crash at Harvest Hill Farm in Mechanic Falls killed a 17-year-old girl and injured several other people.
The Sun Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1OnQx1F ) that prosecutors told an Androscoggin County judge Thursday that only statements made by 38-year-old Philip Theberge to a state fire marshal investigator in an Oct. 15 interview can be used at his trial.
The Norway man and the driver, David Brown of South Paris, are facing a misdemeanor charge of reckless conduct.
A court clerk says Theberge’s trial is expected to start in October. Brown’s trial is expected to begin in September.
