BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) - This seaside town is expecting a boost in business after a new state law allowing to-go cups goes into effect in July.
The Sea Coast Echo reports (https://bit.ly/1qko8hJ ) city leaders hope to see a spark in business once the law goes into effect on July 1.
This week, Gov. Phil Bryant signed a bill permitting cities along the Gulf Coast to establish districts where open-alcohol containers are allowed.
Nikki Moon, the president of the Hancock Tourism Development Bureau, says the law will be “a huge benefit for tourism.”
Moon says the town’s visitors mostly come from Louisiana where to-go cups are common so this new law will make visitors from Louisiana feel more at home.
In April, Councilwoman Wendy McDonald asked the council to make two leisure districts.
