BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - Fans of noted author Pat Conroy have another chance to celebrate his life.

The celebration of the author of such works as “The Price of Tides” and “The Great Santini” is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. in Beaufort’s waterfront park. It’s free to the public.

Local media outlets report the event will feature appearances by Conroy’s wife and fellow novelist Cassandra King as well as other writers and scholars. Renowned singer Marlena Smalls will also sing some of Conroy’s favorite songs.

Conroy died March 4 at the age of 70 following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
