LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Planting kits containing more than 8,000 annual and perennial flowers, mulch and compost for neighborhood beautification have been distributed to organizations in Lansing.
The city says Saturday’s effort is part of the revived Neighborhoods in Bloom program.
It also is part of a series of community events planned during Neighborhood Pride Week which starts Saturday and runs to May 21.
Mayor Virg Bernero helped volunteers hand out the kits and said “it’s good to see residents working together - putting in a bit of elbow grease - to make their neighborhoods more attractive and inviting.”
