MUW to give honorary degree to Scottish literature professor

COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi University of Women is honoring a Scottish literature professor at its Saturday commencement.

MUW will award an honorary degree to Ian Campbell, emeritus professor of Scottish and Victorian literature at the University of Edinburgh. Campbell, who has worked with MUW’s study-abroad program in Edinburgh for 25 years, will also speak to graduates.

The professor has lectured in countries including France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Canada, Japan and the United States.

The Columbus university will present almost 350 bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in a morning and an afternoon ceremony at MUW’s Rent Auditorium.
