ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Florida police shot a pizza delivery driver after authorities say he struck an officer with a vehicle.

The Orlando Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1rKV2cy) reports police responded Friday to the Italian Garden Pizzeria in Winter Garden, about 15 miles west of Orlando, after a call about an employee assaulting the owner.

The suspect had left by the time police arrived so they had the owner lure him back to pick up his final paycheck. Upon arriving he saw officers waiting and attempted to flee. Officials say he hit an officer with his car, pinning him to a dumpster. Police then opened fire.

The pizzeria owner’s son says the suspect was upset he was late for work and missed a delivery. His dad was treated at a hospital and released. Officials say the officer will be OK. The condition of the suspect was not immediately known.

Police are investigating.
