COLUMBIANA, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Shelby County are investigating after finding a site where marijuana were growing outside.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1saNIHk ) that Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force commander Lt. Clay Hammac says tips led officers to the small outdoor grow operation Friday.

Hammac says the estimated value of the plants is $18,000 based on their weight. Investigators say they believe the plants have been harvested for several years.

Investigators say they may release more information once suspects are identified and caught.
