PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a man has been charged with hurling railroad spikes and other items off a Philadelphia railroad overpass onto passing vehicles.

Eighteen-year-old Blake Bowers is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangering and related counts.

Police said at least four vehicles were damaged Friday night as they passed under the overpass near the University of Pennsylvania heading toward the Interstate 76 onramp.

Authorities said one man said that after his windshield was broken, he saw the defendant on the train tracks. The suspect was stopped by university police.

Another man was treated for a minor injury. Police recovered three metal railroad spikes, two metal railroad clamps and a rock.

Court documents indicate that Bowers will be represented by the Defender Association of Philadelphia, which couldn’t be reached over the weekend.
