STRONGSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a teenager walking home from a prom after-party was struck and killed by a driver in western Pennsylvania.

State police in Indiana County said the 16-year-old was struck shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday in Pine Township when the Jeep Wrangler failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and veered onto a grassy area at the side of the road.

The Indiana County coroner’s office identified the victim as Kai Hrabovsky of Homer City. Police said they believe he had just left an after-prom party that was taking place in the woods along the road.

Police said the 20-year-old driver fled to his home, where troopers found him. He was arrested as police opened a homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence investigation, but no charges were immediately filed.
