SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A 1991 Wofford graduate who chairs the Department of Anthropology at Barnard College is the featured speaker at Wofford’s 2016 Commencement.
Paige West speaks Sunday on the campus in Spartanburg where about 390 graduates will receive their degrees.
West studies relationships between societies and their environments and has written about the links between environmental conservation and international development. She has worked with indigenous people in Papua New Guinea since the 1990s.
Among those receiving honorary degrees on Sunday is South Carolina real estate developer M. Stewart Mungo, a 1974 Wofford graduate.
