CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities have identified the body found in James Island County Park as that of a 4-year-old whose family had reported him as missing several hours earlier.

Charleston County coroner Rae Wooten said Sunday that the body found shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday in a marshy area of the park is that of Duffy McLemore.

Police say the child’s family members had reported him missing about 4:45 p.m. Saturday. When park employees couldn’t find him, they notified authorities about 5:15 p.m.

Wooten says the death is being investigated now as an accidental drowning. She says an official cause of death will be available after the autopsy.
