HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - The U.S. Border Patrol’s Detroit Sector will hold a Police Week Memorial Ceremony at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

A wreath-laying is scheduled Monday morning at the Harrison Township base, northeast of Detroit.

It will be the Border Patrol’s 12th year commemorating officers who have lost their lives serving the nation.

The agency says that in 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which it falls as National Police Week.

Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies have been invited to participate in Monday’s program at Selfridge.
