PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a 43-year-old man shot and killed by officers on Saturday first shot and killed his girlfriend.
Officer James Holmes with the Phoenix Police Department says Francis Clark shot and killed 41-year-old Mercy Cordova before police arrived at the scene Saturday. When police arrived Clark shot at the officers. The officers returned fire and shot and killed Clark.
Two officers were injured during the incident but Holmes says he is expected to make a full recovery.
Police says Cordova and Clark had been in a relationship for several years and did not have any children. Clark lived at the apartment where the shooting occurred.
