MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Small dogs are on their way to getting their own play area at Myrtle Beach’s original dog park.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (https://bit.ly/23O9Sep) plans call for another fenced-in area to be added to the 14-acre Barc Parc South.

The 1-acre addition would include a water fountain, benches, tables, trash receptacles and sidewalks.

Work on the $40,000 project is expected to begin in the fall. Richard Kirby of Myrtle Beach Parks Division says final approval of funding is on hold until then although the project is part of the city’s capital improvement project fund.

The city received a $9,000 grant from the S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism and has set aside a 20 percent local match of $2,250.
