ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - The establishment of a new Hutterite colony is adding a new school in Edmunds County.

The Aberdeen American News reports (https://bit.ly/1rVtrFq ) that eight students are moving into the Edmunds Central district from the Grasslands Hutterite Colony in the Leola School District.

Grasslands Colony Assistant Minister Paul Wollman says Grasslands is starting a new colony in the Hosmer area and is beginning the process of getting people moved. Wollman will be head of the new Boulder Colony.

The colony is creating a new school in the old nursing home building in Hosmer. It has rented the building and is currently in the renovation process.

Superintendent Shawn Yates says Edmunds Central is advertising for a teacher to cover the colony school, the first of its kind for the district.
