PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) - Paralyzed former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand says President Barack Obama told him his story is inspiring and he should keep up the good work.

LeGrand told MyCentralJersey.com (https://mycj.co/1Xdc52S ) he met with Obama briefly in the bowels of High Point Solutions Stadium before the president spoke at Rutgers’ graduation Sunday.

He says the meeting was “insane” and he was in shock when the president told him he knew of his story.

LeGrand has championed spinal cord research since suffering a paralyzing injury during a 2010 game.

He spoke to graduates in 2014, telling them anything is possible.
