BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - A Bridgeport man has been arrested on murder and other charges in what police are calling a gang-related killing.
Deonte Tomlinson is accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Kahlil Sloan-Diaz around noon Friday.
Police say Sloan-Diaz was shot three times in the neck and wrist as he sat in a car on Madison Avenue. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the killing was part of an ongoing street war between rival gangs in the area.
The 19-year-old Tomlinson is being held in lieu of $1 million bond pending his arraignment Monday.
It’s unclear whether Tomlinson has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
Police say Friday’s killing was the city’s second homicide of the year.
