HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities say two people suffered minor injuries when a small plane crashed in a neighborhood in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle.

Hedgesville fire Lt. Justin Murphy says the pilot and passenger of the plane were taken to a hospital after the crash, which was reported about 1:10 p.m. Saturday. He says no one on the ground was hurt.

State Police Cpl. M.D. Gillmore says the plane took off from a private airfield and crashed a short time later into the yard of a home near Hedgesville.

Media outlets report that the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
