STUTTGART, Germany (AP) - Stuttgart’s president Bernd Wahler resigned on Sunday, one day after the Bundesliga club was relegated to the second division for the first time in 41 years.

Wahler said he was taking responsibility for the club’s demise, calling it “incomprehensible” and a “black day in the history of the club.”

At the same time, the club said the contract of coach Juergen Kramny ended with the final 3-1 defeat at Wolfsburg.

Kramny had been promoted from the reserve team and is theoretically now due to return to the previous position. But the club said it was uncertain whether Kramny will return in any position.
