NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a woman was able to escape from her car before it was struck by a train in western Pennsylvania.
Police in Lawrence County said the driver lost control of her vehicle due to slick road conditions and went through the railroad crossing gate in Union Township at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police said her car came to a stop on the tracks and became stuck, and the driver was able to get out just as the CSX train was coming.
Officials said she was taken to UPMC Jameson Hospital with a shoulder injury.
