BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A wrongful termination claim has been filed against Idaho state Treasurer Ron Crane.

The claim filed Thursday with the secretary of state’s office says Christopher Priest’s dismissal in November from the investment division violated the state’s whistleblower law.

The Idaho Statesman reports (https://is.gd/4ABvuS ) Priest says he was fired in retaliation for reporting a waste of public money.

Priest and another employee were fired in November, two weeks after all five members of the investment division were formally put on notice for insubordination.

Priest’s claim seeks upwards of $200,000 for prior and ongoing lost wages.

He describes a dysfunctional, unsupervised office where Crane seldom worked and where politics and avoiding bad publicity drove management and decision-making.
