COMPTON, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials say two men were killed when a gunman fired into a car that was pulling out of a Compton gas station.

Deputy Kelvin Moody says the suspect was on foot but got into a white pickup and sped off after the shooting Sunday night.

A 26-year-old man who was in the car but not hurt told detectives he and the other victims were pulling out of the parking lot when gunfire erupted.

The driver died at the scene. A 23-year-old passenger was found in the street next to the car and died at a hospital.

Investigators have not released a suspect description or a possible motive.
