AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Police are investigating the shooting of a man who ran from officers during a traffic stop in Aurora.
Police spokeswoman Crystal McCoy said the man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after an officer fired at him Sunday night when he “produced a handgun” during the chase.
Police plan to provide more details about the shooting at a press conference Tuesday afternoon after the officer is interviewed.
It’s the fourth officer involved shooting involving the department this month.
Last week, police shot and killed a carjacking suspect and also wounded a shooting suspect in Denver. On May 1, police shot a homeless man in the wrist after reports that he had shown a weapon to employees at a McDonald’s. It turned out to be a replica of a gun.
