VISALIA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in California say they have arrested a gang member who shot a 14-year-old girl in April.

The Fresno Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1shJsFL ) that the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department says it arrested the 18-year-old Exeter man in Visalia Sunday on suspicion of attempted murder.

Investigators say the girl was walking to the store with two others on April 23 when a vehicle slowed down and people yelled gang slurs at them. Police say witnesses told them the others ran away but the girl dropped to the ground as the vehicle sped off.

She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
