WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - A Delaware man has been sentenced for raping a 14-year-old girl in a driveway in the North Dakota oil patch hub of Williston as she walked home from a friend’s house.
The Williston Herald reports (https://bit.ly/27reUlI ) the crime happened a decade ago, but Robert Venker wasn’t arrested until 2014. He’s been in jail since, and pleaded guilty last fall in a deal with prosecutors to gross sexual imposition, kidnapping and indecent exposure.
The 46-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, was recently sentenced to serve 12 years in prison, with credit for time served.
Police say the former oil field worker raped the girl in 2006 then eluded authorities for eight years until being arrested in Missouri for a similar attack. DNA from that case linked him to the Williston rape.
