PHOENIX (AP) - A former Mesa math teacher and football coach has been sentenced to 2½ years in prison on convictions of furnishing obscene material to a minor and attempting to commit sexual conduct with a minor.

Judge Pamela Gates of Maricopa County Superior sentenced Sheron Maurice Butler on Monday. Butler had pleaded guilty on April 13.

He formerly worked at Sequoia Charter School.
