ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Jury selection has begun in the trial of one of the men charged in the fatal shooting of three people outside the Boys and Girls Club in Rochester last summer.

Johnny Blackshell Jr. is one of three Rochester men charged with murder after gunfire killed three people and wounded four others outside the club last Aug. 19. Jury selection in the 21-year-old Blackshell’s trial began Monday morning in Monroe County Court, with a pool of about 110 potential jurors brought in.

A judge has ruled that Blackshell will stand trial alone. The judge plans to rule later on whether the other two defendants - 18-year-old Michael Mathis and 20-year-old Jalen Everett - will be tried together or separately.

Authorities say an AK-47 was used to fire into a crowd as it left the club after a basketball game.
