COLUMBIA, Ky. (AP) - A Casey County woman who went missing has been found dead in her vehicle.

Media outlets report that 54-year-old Carla Monday was reported missing by family members on Wednesday after she didn’t show up for work Tuesday evening.

Kentucky State Police say that while searching the route Monday was known to take to work, investigators found her 2005 Saturn Wednesday evening. It had traveled down an embankment that was difficult to see from the road.

Police say Monday had been driving to work on Tuesday when her vehicle traveled off the road, over an embankment and struck several trees.

Monday was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.
