SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) - The Northern Hills Training Center is celebrating 40 years of providing residential and vocational opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.
The Black Hills Pioneer reports (https://bit.ly/22e25Y5 ) that the center is hosting an open-house celebration from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. MDT Tuesday at the Fred Romkema Center.
Public relations coordinator Chris Davis says the celebration will include entertainment, ice cream and brick-oven pizza. Staff will take people on tours to show off the building and answer questions about the agency’s programs.
NHTC is one of 19 agencies throughout South Dakota that is supported, certified, and monitored by the Division of Developmental Disabilities to serve people with disabilities.
The center continues to have a waiting list and currently serves around 140 people from around the northern Black Hills and South Dakota.
